Colorado Threads Giving and Community Engagement Policy
Overview
At Colorado Threads, we believe business should be a force for good. As a locally rooted and community-driven company, we are committed to practices that generate measurable and meaningful benefits for our people, partners, and places. This Giving & Community Commitment Policy outlines the values, structures, and impact strategies that guide our philanthropic giving and local community engagement.
I. Charitable Giving Commitments
Annual Donation Commitment: Colorado Threads commits to donating a minimum of 5% of annual revenue to charitable causes each fiscal year. These donations support nonprofit organizations aligned with our core values and “Giving Pillars” of community health, environmental stewardship, equity, education and empowerment, as well as a reactionary giving allocation.
Selection of Charitable Partners: We evaluate and select nonprofit partners based on third-party screening tools (e.g., Guidestar, Charity Navigator), as well as alignment to brand causes. These include alignment with our mission, core values and geographic relevance.
Leadership Engagement: Our leadership team plays active roles within key partner organizations, including board service, advisory participation, and capacity-building support. We view this engagement as a key part of creating deeper, lasting community relationships.
II. Community-Centered Business Model
Local Economic Vitality: We operate a community-focused business model that prioritizes the economic vitality of our local Colorado communities. Our commitments include:
-
Contributing 5% or more of revenue to local charities.
-
Providing community space for local organizations and gatherings.
-
Supporting the local economy through community sponsorships and investment programs.
-
Sustainable Local Practices
-
We bank with a local and independent financial institution, ensuring our deposits contribute to regional economic development.
-
We maintain a written local hiring policy that prioritizes job creation and economic opportunity within our region.
Scalability of Local Focus: Our locally-focused practices are not dependent on size—they are embedded in the DNA of our business model. We are formally committed to preserving our local orientation regardless of future growth or expansion.
III. Impact Evaluation
Defined Qualitative Outcomes: We define both qualitative and quantitative outcomes for our charitable activities based on existing literature, best practices in philanthropy, and community partner input. Examples include:
-
Improved mental health and well-being
-
Support for environmental stewardship
-
Increased access to education, nature and outdoor recreation
-
Strengthened support systems for underserved populations
Measurement & Verification: We track our outcomes using a combination of:
-
Incoming beneficiary surveys and stories
-
Requested feedback from nonprofit partners
-
Internally tracked data on contributions to partners
Impact Verification
Our team has developed a process to determine the percentage of beneficiaries for whom we can verify a positive impact. We use this data to continuously refine our giving strategy and increase the effectiveness of our contributions.
Metrics of Success: Our main metric of success is measured through the percentage of revenue donated (In-kind MSRP value and monetary) to registered charities, aiming for 5% of revenue annually. Additionally, we track which core value each of those donations supports from that 5%.
