Fun winter traditions you can do this festive season!

Genevieve Marshall |

It's time to get out of bed and start taking advantage of everything Colorado has to offer this winter. We've put up 6 activities you can do indoors and outdoors this season to have fun that are different from your usual routine!

1. Take a Train Ride

Where: Canon City, one block south of Highway 50 and Third Street

Price for Two: $88, but the view dome cart and the murder mystery train excursion have different costs.

The Rundown: The Royal Gorge Route is a special train service that travels down the Arkansas River for 2 to 2.5 hours and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With a fully functional bar, you may sit on a train with a beer in your hand and take in the landscape of Colorado. Although it provides year-round service, you can ride the Santa Express Train during the Christmas season provided you buy your tickets in advance.

2. Snow Tubing

Where: Frisco Adventure Park (Aspen and Copper Mountain offer it as well)

When: Skiing Season

Price per hour for two people: $52 (the price is cheaper for summit county and Frisco residents).

The Rundown: When you go snow tubing, strap yourself into a tube and get ready for the trip of your life. You may connect with your friend and ride down the slopes together.

3. Bundle up in a remote cabin

Most cabins cost roughly $200 per night for a couple.

The Rundown: Book a lodge in the wilderness and disconnect from social media for a few days. You can find a list of our favorites from among the many distinctive rural cabin locations that Free House has to offer in Colorado here. Some of the cabins are ski-in/ski-out, and one has a wood-fired hot tub. Talk about the ideal weekend retreat.

4. Ride a mountain coaster

Where: 2305 Mt. Werner Circle, Steamboat Springs, Steamboat Ski Resort

When: from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Cost for Two: $40 for your own cart; however, if you wanted to ride with a friend, the cost for a two-person cart would be $30 overall.

The Outlaw Mountain Coaster is North America's longest mountain coaster, according to the lowdown. You climb around 40 feet above the earth after more than 400 vertical feet of descent. You can regulate your own brakes if you want slow and steady progress. If you feel unsafe, don't touch them at all during the entire descent. You may read our own thoughts on it here as well.

5. Visit hot springs

Price for Two: Most hot springs cost about $18 per person. Bring your own towel so you won't have to pay to rent one.

The Rundown: What sounds better than a trip to a hot springs after a long, hard work week? Here a few distinctive hot springs we love!

6. Denver Christkindl Market

Where: Denver, 1515 Arapahoe Street

When: From November 17 to December 23 from Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and from December 18 to 23 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays.

Price: Free for two people

The Rundown: Before Christmas, look around the Denver Christkindl Market, a German Christmas market where you and your companion can buy gifts for each other's families. While perusing the various boutiques, indulge in delectable snacks like Gluehwin (hot spiced wine) and Stollen (typical German Christmas bread).
